The Sea to Summit 2019 Sleeping Bag range is a re invention of the category by the brand who has brought us such iconic sleeping bags like the Trek series and the ultra lightweight Spark series bags.
It’s been nearly 10 years since they released their first sleeping bag range and they have delivered so much development in that time. From their early beginnings they have tweaked individual models and introduced new ones to provide a range that caters for just about everyone. Their 2018 range was a selection of fantastic models which perform incredibly well (we've got some great deals on these at the moment - up to 40% Off) but in true Sea to Summit form they have made great bags even better with the release of the 2019 Sea to Summit Sleeping Bag range.
After taking a step back to look at the 2018 range, and using global customer feedback data and their own in depth understanding of how Sea to Summit sleeping bags should perform, the new range was designed around 2 main themes;
The first is Technical Performance, and the second is Comfort and Versatility.
They have continued to use innovative super lightweight fabrics and technical materials, whilst focusing on comfort and versatility across their entire sleep system. They have also given their Women’s models a makeover, and now offer a more complete synthetic range.
In 2019 Sea to Summit are introducing more new features to some of their models (n.b. These features are not in all models)
- Vertical Baffle Construction in the chest (eliminates down compression with side sleepers)
- Improves comfort with improved warmth
- Free Flow Zip system
- Versatility, and comfort through the ability to tweak temperatures
- Lighter weight fabrics, down to 7D in the updated Spark and Flame
- Aesthetic updates which aid customers in understanding the range.
- Highlighted zip locations
- Womens models highlight additional insulation in the foot box
- They have also updated the shape of several models to improve comfort which can be seen in individual models.
The Sea to Summit 2019 Sleeping Bag range can be broken down by the fill powers of each series.
850 Loft Bags – These are the top end, technical sleeping bags designed with comfort and versatility in mind.
Spark/Flame TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE – COMFORTABLE/VERSATILE
- Increased temperature range – from Spark 0 to 4 (starting at 225g)
- Roomier fit across the range for improved comfort with a slightly longer zip
- Lighter – more compressible fabrics to minimise weight gain
Alpine TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE – COMFORTABLE/VERSATILE
- More volume internally, both with chest diameters and within the foot box. These are designed for expedition use.
- -40-degree temp rating reached in the AP3 Sleeping bag
- Free flow zip system
750 Loft Bags– designed with versatility in mind whilst delivering technical performance
Ascent/Altitude TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE – COMFORTABLE/VERSATILE
- There's no need for a waterproof breathable shell, it's just unnecessary added weight, especially with this bag's Dry Down. Now 20D (uncoated) saving average 60g per bag whilst improving appearance.

Other new bags that have been added to the range include;
- The traveller 2 with full horizontal baffles. The only bag still with a drawcord around the base.
- The Basecamp has been updated to the Explore with improved mat integration.
- The Ember Quilts now with 850+ Loft Down and 7 – 10D fabrics in line with the Spark/Flame range. These also have an increased width for more versatility.
This season synthetic bags have been added to the Sea to Summit 2019 Sleeping bag range for a number of reasons, including;
- Customers are looking for improved synthetic bag performance at a reasonable price
- They offer better performance in extreme wet environments
- Some customers will prefer an option to down filled bags
