Our Founder & CEO - Davis Smith grew up throughout Latin America, where he saw first-hand the hardship resulting from unequal access to opportunity. He has since dedicated himself to using business as a force for good in order to address the inequality he witnessed during his childhood.
The Mountain - One of the world's highest active volcanoes, Cotopaxi (koh-toh-PAHK-see) in Ecuador had a major presence in Davis’s life—even his school was named for it. The mountain’s glacial streams, wild llamas, and countless trails instilled in him the spirit of adventure and gratitude that eventually inspired him to found Cotopaxi the company.
Why the Llama? - These headstrong herd animals live in some of the most rugged regions of the Andes. They’re hardy, sociable, fiercely loyal, curious, and eccentric—kinda like us.
